| Music industry hopes upgrades boost mobile sector

| Reuters - Perhaps no single device has had more
impact on mobile music than Apple's iPhone. While only 6.7
percent of overall mobile customers use their phone to listen
to music, rising to 27.9 percent for smartphone users, a full
74.1 percent of iPhone owners reported using the device as an
MP3 player, according to M:Metrics.

| Napster Launches 'World's Largest' MP3 Online Store

| NewsFactor - Napster is looking to shake up the online music scene once more. On Tuesday, the digital-music pioneer announced the launch of what it described as "the world's largest and most comprehensive MP3 store." | AP - In a May 19 story about Napster, The Associated Press mischaracterized music downloads sold by a competitor, the iTunes Music Store. The retailer owned by Apple Inc. sells downloads in the AAC file format, not the MP3 format. ITunes' tracks without copy protection are the same price as not more expensive than the standard copy-protected versions. -- read full article |
