| Clint Mathis returned to Real Salt Lake on Thursday, when the Major League Soccer team acquired the 31-year-old midfielder's rights from Ergotelis of the Greek SuperLeague. Mathis, a star for the U.S. national team at the 2002 World Cup, scored three goals in 27 games for Real Salt Lake City during its inaugural 2005 season. -- read full article |

| Luciano Emilio scored twice to lead D.C. United to a 3-1 victory over defending champion New England Revolution in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night. The United advanced to the tournament's championship game for the first time since 1997. | Ruud Gullit has resigned as coach of the slumping Los Angeles Galaxy for personal reasons, and president/general manager Alexi Lalas also is out of a job.
