| Chris Rolfe scored three first-half goals and the Chicago Fire clinched home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs by defeating the New York Red Bulls 5-2 on Thursday night. | FC Dallas midfielder Rhine says he will retire (AP) |
| FC Dallas midfielder Bobby Rhine, one of 17 players in MLS history to play at least 200 games for one team, will retire after the season. Rhine said Thursday he will end his 10-year career with FC Dallas after Sunday's season finale at the Los Angeles Galaxy. The sixth pick in the 1999 draft, Rhine has played 211 games for FC Dallas, second in team history behind Jason Kreis. -- read full article |

| Juan Carlos Cacho and Fernando Espinoza scored first-half goals and Marco Antonio Palacios added a second-half goal and the UNAM Pumas dealt Houston Dynamo its first CONCACAF Champions League loss, 3-1 Wednesday night. | Houston Dynamo forward Kei Kamara and FC Dallas midfielder Pablo Ricchetti will each miss two games after receiving a red card last week. | FC Dallas M Saragosa undergoes knee surgery (AP) |
| Marcelo Saragosa of FC Dallas had surgery Tuesday to repair a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. The midfielder is expected to be out of action for three to four months.
