| A fueler for De Ferran Motorsports was transferred to a burn center Tuesday and his condition was upgraded from critical to serious. | Kevin Harvick wins Maine's TD Banknorth 250 (AP) |
| NASCAR's Kevin Harvick stayed an extra day and then raced to victory in the rain-delayed TD Banknorth 250 on Monday night. Harvick built a comfortable lead before turning back a late challenge by Glen Luce of Turner as he upstaged the field of local and regional drivers at Oxford Plains Speedway. | Italy's Rossi wins US Grand Prix (AP) |
| Valentino Rossi won the United States Grand Prix on Sunday, giving the Italian rider his first victory at Laguna Seca. Rossi's 66th career victory stopped defending world champion Casey Stoner's winning streak at three races. | Rain postpones TD Banknorth 250 until Monday (AP) |
| The TD Banknorth 250 featuring NASCAR's Kevin Harvick against a field of top local and regional drivers was postponed Sunday because of rain. Race officials said qualifying heats would resume Monday afternoon, weather permitting. | A driver died in a four-vehicle accident at Toledo Speedway that sent the rear of his car slamming into a wall at about 110 mph.
