    Police: Akron player arrested after shooting
    Akron basketball player Rydell Brooks was arrested early Sunday after shooting at police officers during a foot chase following a traffic stop. Akron police said the 20-year-old Brooks ran from a car and fired several times as police officers chased him. He was being held in Summit County Jail and faces attempted murder and felonious assault charges. Brooks player graduated from Akron Buchtel High School in 2006.     BYU center Plaisted won't return to school
    Brigham Young center Trent Plaisted has agreed to sign with an agent, giving up his option to turn to school for his final season of eligibility. Plaisted announced last month he was entering the NBA draft, but didn't plan to sign with an agent to keep the option of playing at BYU again next season.     Dunlap leaves Nuggets for Arizona assistant job
    Mike Dunlap is leaving his job as a Denver Nuggets assistant coach to serve on Lute Olson's staff at the University of Arizona. Dunlap served on coach George Karl's staff the last two seasons after a highly successful stint at Metro State College of Denver.     Indiana gives Dakich $185K settlement
    Indiana University has reached a settlement with former interim coach Dan Dakich, paying him the $185,000 he was scheduled to earn next school year. IU spokesman Larry MacIntyre confirmed the deal, saying Dakich was owed a base salary of $110,000 with a supplemental bonus of $75,000.     The El Paso County district attorney said Thursday that his office is declining to prosecute UTEP junior guard Stefon Jackson, who was accused of lying to authorities about the whereabouts of a cousin from Philadelphia wanted on a felony warrant.     Former USC basketball star O.J. Mayo has denied allegations that he received cash and gifts from events promoter Rodney Guillory and said he was confident an investigation will determine he did not violate NCAA rules. "I know for a fact that I haven't accepted anything," Mayo told the Los Angeles Times for Thursday's editions.
