| Brown University didn't look far for its new men's basketball coach.
The Ivy League school said Monday it has selected assistant coach Jesse Agel to replace Craig Robinson, who left after two seasons to take the coaching job at Oregon State. Robinson is Barack Obama's brother-in-law.

| Duquesne lands ex-Kentucky C Williams |
| Morakinyo Williams, a 6-foot-11 center who was one of Kentucky's top recruits a year ago, is transferring to Duquesne.
Williams, who played sparingly at Kentucky last season and wanted a chance to play more minutes and make a bigger impact, signed his scholarship papers Monday and faxed them to Duquesne. He also considered Tulane and Penn after deciding recently to leave Kentucky. -- read full article |

| Hansen to retire as Pac-10 commissioner |
| The Pac-10's Tom Hansen, the longest-tenured Division-I conference commissioner in the country, will retire next summer after 26 years on the job.
Hansen will step down effective July 1, 2009. Pac-10 teams won 204 NCAA championships during his time running the league and he has seen the emergence of Pac-10 football and basketball in recent years - including men's basketball being widely considered the strongest conference in the nation this past season. -- read full article |

| North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson was charged with driving while impaired after a traffic stop in downtown Chapel Hill.
According to Chapel Hill Police Capt. Jackie Carden, Lawson was stopped early Friday morning because of the loud music coming from the car and the smell of alcohol. A field sobriety test led the officer to file charges.
Police say Lawson also was charged with violating the city's noise ordinance and driving with a suspended or revoked license. -- read full article |

| Pitt assistant Antigua leaving for Memphis |
| Orlando Antigua, a former Pitt player and an assistant basketball coach at the school, is leaving to join coach John Calipari's staff at NCAA runner-up Memphis.
Former Pitt point guard Brandin Knight will become a full-time Pitt assistant coach, replacing Antigua, after being the director of basketball operations last season. Knight has been on coach Jamie Dixon's staff for two seasons, the first as video coordinator.

| MSG hoping to host NCAA games after renovations |
| Madison Square Garden, which last hosted an NCAA tournament game in 1961, is hoping its $500 million renovation will help it land the East Regional championship as early as 2012.
The current Garden, which opened in 1968 and is home to the NBA's Knicks and NHL's Rangers, announced its plans for the building upgrade in April and now has its sights set on bringing back college basketball's national championship tournament in 2012 or 2013. -- read full article |

| Coroner: Jail death of James due to natural causes |
| The Clark County coroner says a former UNLV basketball player found dead at the Las Vegas city jail died of natural causes.
Frank "Spoon" James was found dead in his cell Wednesday morning after a second night in the city lockup. Police say the 45-year-old James was being held on traffic warrant charges after a routine traffic stop.

| Akron dismissed basketball player Rydell Brooks, who was accused of shooting at police officers during a foot chase after a traffic stop.
Brooks was dismissed from school on Friday. He was indicted on charges of attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault on May 18.
Brooks' attorney Michael Bowler said if his client is acquitted, he could be reinstated.
