    Former Texas Tech coach Robison dies
    Polk Robison, whose success as Texas Tech's basketball coach helped the school break into the Southwest Conference in 1956, has died. He was 96. Robison died early Friday, university spokesman Chris Cook said. Robison coached Texas Tech from 1942 to 1961 and was its athletic director from 1961 to 1969. As a coach, he had a career record of 248-195, the second-most wins in school history. His teams won three consecutive Border Conference titles. -- read full article

    Indiana University's president told the NCAA infractions committee that the hiring of ousted basketball coach Kelvin Sampson was "a risk that should not have been taken." Indiana president Michael McRobbie told the committee during a private session on June 14 that Sampson had betrayed the school's trust in violating NCAA regulations on telephone calls to recruits.     Davidson to announce extension for McKillop
    Davidson basketball coach Bob McKillop has agreed to a multiyear contract extension, three months after the Wildcats' surprising NCAA tournament run. A school spokesman said Friday the deal will be announced at a news conference Saturday morning. McKillop is 340-225 in 19 seasons at Davidson. Behind sophomore star Stephen Curry, Davidson upset Gonzaga, Georgetown and Wisconsin.     Humphrey kicked off Georgia team following arrest
    Georgia coach Dennis Felton has dismissed Billy Humphrey from the team following Humphrey's third arrest in less than a year. The 20-year-old Humphrey was charged with DUI, failure to maintain his lane and the underage purchase of alcohol and taken to the Gwinnett County jail early Tuesday. Felton announced Friday that Humphrey, a rising senior who was the team's second-leading scorer last season, was dismissed from the team.
