| UConn frosh arrested for violating restraining order |
| Connecticut freshman basketball player Nate Miles has been arrested on charges he violated a restraining order.
According to UConn Police arrest records, Miles was served with a restraining order on Sept. 22, but violated it by placing a phone call to the protected party that day. That person is not named.
Miles was released Thursday after posting a $2,500 bond and is due in court Sept. 30. -- read full article |

| Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf has been given an additional year of athletic eligibility.
Devendorf, a key member of the basketball team who missed 25 of the Orange's 35 games last season with a knee injury, has been granted a hardship waiver by the Big East Conference.

| Simmons to miss 8-12 weeks from surgery |
| Southern California sophomore guard Marcus Simmons will miss 8-to-12 weeks after having surgery to remove additional bone growth in his left leg due to complications from an ankle injury last season.
Simmons was limited to 15 games last season after sustaining a high ankle sprain on the first day of practice. He averaged 0.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6.7 minutes. He had the latest surgery Tuesday, coach Tim Floyd said Friday.
