| Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy avoided jail time Monday by pleading guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct for his altercation with a cab driver.
Kennedy was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and six months probation by Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Dwane Mallory. The coach faced up to six months in jail on his original assault charge. -- read full article |

| Villanova guard Scottie Reynolds has declared for the NBA draft, but will not hire an agent and could return to the Wildcats for his senior season.
Reynolds has scored 1,620 points in three seasons at Villanova and led the Wildcats' run this year to the Final Four. Reynolds could withdraw from the draft by June 15 and still retain his eligibility if he does not hire an agent. -- read full article |

| Florida coach Billy Donovan turned to his mentor to help stabilize his coaching staff.
Donovan hired Louisville coach Rick Pitino's son, Richard, as an assistant Monday. Richard Pitino spent the last two years working in a similar position under his father after stints at Duquesne (2006-07), Northeastern (2005-06) and College of Charleston (2004-05).

| Kansas swingman Little has leg surgery |
| Senior swingman Mario Little has had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his lower left leg.
Kansas coach Bill Self said on Saturday that Little will be able to return to the court by June 1. He had the operation on Thursday.
Little averaged 4.7 points and 3.2 rebounds last season, missing 12 games because of the leg injury and a broken hand.

| An attorney for the estranged wife of Louisville's equipment manager has been contacted by the FBI regarding extortion allegations leveled by coach Rick Pitino.
Attorney Thomas Clay says he spoke with the FBI about the matter last week but had no further comment. He represents Karen Sypher, the wife of longtime equipment manager Tim Sypher. Clay said the Syphers are in the process of getting a divorce. -- read full article |
