    Former Duke player says he's going to Memphis
    Ex-Duke basketball player Elliot Williams says he'll transfer to the University of Memphis. Williams, a rising sophomore guard, was granted his release Wednesday from Duke because his mom is sick. He told The Commercial-Appeal on Saturday that he's planning to transfer to Memphis, in his hometown, because being closer to his family is the most important thing. It was one of the four schools he'd been considering, along with Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Tennessee.

    Kentucky tries to move Billy Gillispie lawsuit
    The University of Kentucky Athletics Association says former Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie has sued the wrong people and in the wrong place. The athletics association has asked a federal judge in Texas to either dismiss Gillispie's lawsuit over his firing or move the case to Kentucky. In a motion filed Friday in federal court, the association's attorneys say the school has minimum contact with the state of Texas, giving the court there no jurisdiction to hear Gillispie's claims.

    NCAA denies ex-Indiana coach Sampson's appeal
    The NCAA has rejected an appeal from former Indiana basketball coach Kelvin Sampson. The NCAA said Tuesday that the NCAA Division I infractions Committee has upheld the violations stemming from more than 100 impermissible phone calls made while Sampson was coaching at Indiana. Sampson received five years of potential penalties when the NCAA ruled on the case, including an order that could keep him from coaching in college for the next four years.
