    USC signs 25-year lease with LA Coliseum (AP)
    Southern California has signed a new 25-year lease that will keep the Trojans' football team in the Los Angeles Coliseum and include improvements in the stadium. USC has played in the 85-year-old facility since it was built in 1923.     Jacksonville State signs QB Perrilloux (AP)
    Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, kicked off LSU's national championship team after repeated off-the-field problems, signed Wednesday with Jacksonville State. Perrilloux will be able to transfer and start immediately for the Gamecocks. The MVP of last season's Southeastern Conference title game won't have to sit out a year because Jacksonville State plays in the lower Football Championship Subdivision. -- read full article

    Louisville dismisses RB Stripling (AP)
    Running back George Stripling was dismissed from the Louisville football team Friday for a violation of team rules. Stripling was suspended for one game last season for an unspecified violation of team rules. He ran for 1,338 yards and 13 touchdowns in 34 career games for the Cardinals. Stripling, from Jacksonville, Fla., has one year of eligibility remaining. -- read full article

    Penn St. DT Baker gets 2 years probation (AP)
    Penn State defensive tackle Chris Baker was sentenced to two years' probation after entering guilty pleas in two cases involving fights. Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said Baker pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor simple assault and criminal trespass for a fight at an off-campus apartment in April 2007. -- read full article

    Paterno feels better after hospital trip (AP)
    Penn State coach Joe Paterno shrugged off a medical scare and said Friday that he feels fine after going to the hospital this week to be treated for dehydration. He even suggested he'd like to keep coaching longer. "Realistically, at my age, if I go three, four, five (more) years, that would be great," Paterno said. -- read full article
