    Minnesota kick returner Harold Howell was dismissed from the team for academic reasons. Coach Tim Brewster said Tuesday that Howell was cut for violations of academic and team guidelines.     2 Ex-Iowa players accused of sex assault (AP)
    Two former Iowa football players are accused of sexually assaulting a woman on campus last year, and university police have issued warrants for their arrests.     Montana OL Quinn arrested on DUI charge (AP)
    Montana offensive lineman J.D. Quinn was arrested Thursday on charges of drunken driving, his second DUI charge in less than a year. The 22-year-old senior, who transferred from Oklahoma, was arrested after he pulled over for a traffic stop, refused a breathalyzer and requested a blood test, according to his attorney. -- read full article

    Former Oklahoma QB Mildren dies at 58 (AP)
    Jack Mildren, a former lieutenant governor and the first quarterback in the University of Oklahoma's vaunted wishbone offense, died on Thursday, his brother said. He was 58.     Texas Tech C Hamby faces assault charge (AP)
    Texas Tech center Stephen Hamby faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly punching a man in the face twice in March.     North Dakota star running back Ryan Chappell is academically ineligible to play this season, the first for the school at Division I.     Arkansas running back Brandon Barnett was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a traffic citation Tuesday night.     Suspended Clemson linebacker Cortney Vincent will not return for the 2008 season. Vincent was suspended for spring practice for an unspecified violation of team rules.     Murray State QB's felony charge reduced (AP)
    A judge reduced a felony charge to a misdemeanor against Murray State quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt, who pushed a campus police officer and took his ticket book. Ehrhardt pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct Tuesday.
