    Former Oklahoma QB Holieway jailed (AP)
    Jamelle Holieway, the starting quarterback on Oklahoma's 1985 national championship team, was jailed Friday because of outstanding traffic warrants. Holieway had been scheduled for a nonjury trial on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession but was taken into custody after the trial was delayed.     Minnesota recruit has heart surgery (AP)
    Prized Minnesota football recruit Sam Maresh underwent open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic on Thursday. Doctors deemed the procedure, which replaced a valve in Maresh's heart, a success. The procedure was performed by Dr. Hartzell Schaff, the same physician who operated on former Timberwolves guard Fred Hoiberg three years ago. -- read full article

    Court revives lawsuit in stadium death (AP)
    An appeals court has reinstated a lawsuit brought by family members of an ABC Sports cameraman who died in 2003 after he fell from a platform at Camp Randall Stadium.     C. Florida RB Kay suspended after arrest (AP)
    Central Florida running back Ricky Kay was suspended from the team following an arrest over the weekend. According to an affidavit, the 19-year-old was charged with preventing or hindering firefighter equipment and damage of property.     Clemson safety DeAndre McDaniel has been arrested on charges he covered his girlfriend's head with a comforter and began choking her.     Former Marshall DE Goddard dies (AP)
    Former Marshall defensive end Johnathan Goddard died early Sunday after a motorcycle accident in northern Florida. Goddard's motorcycle went off the shoulder of a road at a high rate of speed and overturned about 7:40 p.m. Saturday in Clay County, Fla., Florida Highway Patrol Lt.     Liberty Bowl founder Dudley dies at 88 (AP)
    Ambrose "Bud" Dudley, who founded the Liberty Bowl football game in 1959 and oversaw the game for decades, has died. He was 88. Dudley died Tuesday at a nursing home in Memphis after a long illness.     Oklahoma St. TE Pettigrew pleads guilty (AP)
    Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew pleaded guilty on Monday to a reduced charge for allegedly attacking a police officer in January.     Indiana to repair flood-damaged field (AP)
    Crews started pulling up the turf Thursday at Indiana's Memorial Stadium, the first step in replacing the flood-damaged field.     Paralyzed ex-Texas Tech DT Garland dead (AP)
    Former Texas Tech defensive tackle Stoney Garland, who was paralyzed in a car accident more than a decade ago, has died. He was 33. Garland died at his home in Plains on Wednesday, the school's athletic department said in a statement Thursday.
