Texas routs Arkansas in renewed rivalry (AP)
Forget the famous rivalry. Colt McCoy and No. 7 Texas clobbered Arkansas like any other early season warmup. And when the most lopsided game between the border foes in decades was over, all Razorbacks coach Bobby Petrino could do Saturday was collapse into a chair and sigh. Hard. "That's a beating," Petrino said. -- read full article

Scott helps No. 5 LSU stay unbeaten (AP)
With the battering Charles Scott in LSU's backfield, Les Miles didn't have to resort to any tricks to avoid this week's upset bug. Miles did take one small gamble: A fourth-and-goal run from the 1 that Scott easily punched in for one of his two short touchdowns. Scott surpassed 100 yards rushing for a fourth straight game, leading No. -- read full article

Williams stars as Penn St. tops Illinois (AP)
Derrick Williams came to Penn State in 2005 as one of the most hyped recruits Joe Paterno had ever lured to Happy Valley. For the past three years, Williams hasn't quite lived up to his advance billing. On Saturday night against No. 22 Illinois, the speedy senior put on a show like no Nittany Lion has ever done during Paterno's 43-year tenure. -- read full article

Down 19, Michigan upsets No. 9 Wisconsin (AP)
Rich Rodriguez earned the right to be hailed at Michigan for the first time. Rodriguez, in his fourth game as coach, directed the Wolverines' biggest comeback in Big House history, helping them rally from a 19-point deficit to beat No. 9 Wisconsin 27-25 Saturday. The first significant victory of his debut season in Ann Arbor wasn't sealed until Allen Evridge misfired on a 2-point conversion with 13... -- read full article

Mississippi stuns No. 4 Florida 31-30 (AP)
Tim Tebow stood at the podium with his arms folded, took several deep breaths and then did something he's never done before, something he's never had to do. He apologized after a football game. For his poor passes. For his costly fumble. For his failed fourth-down run. He took all the blame for this one -- even though Jevan Snead and Mississippi deserved plenty of credit. -- read full article

Oklahoma cruises, makes case for No. 1 (AP)
Ask Sam Bradford about his big numbers or Oklahoma's potential to sit atop the college football rankings, and he'll tell you exactly what all that means to him. "Absolutely nothing," Bradford said. "We've still got a long way to go before we even think about where we're ranked in the polls. Right now, they pretty much don't mean anything." If this week proved anything, it certainly showed that... -- read full article

Alabama pulls stunner at Georgia 41-30 (AP)
The Alabama Crimson Tide turned the blackout into a knockout. Just don't tell Nick Saban that he's got a national championship contender, not even after a decisive victory over third-ranked Georgia. "After five games?" Saban said with a tone of disbelief late Saturday night. "Let's see when we get a full body of work at the end of the season." But No. -- read full article

Risks paying off for No. 5 LSU (AP)
Les Miles and No. 5 LSU are up to their old tricks, taking gambles, running trick plays -- and winning big games. It doesn't seem to matter who's playing quarterback. Jarrett Lee's clutch performance running the offense, Charles Scott's pounding runs and a defense that continually smothered No. 15 Auburn's running game were the biggest keys in Saturday's night's 26-21 LSU win. -- read full article

The unbeaten Commodores are No. 21 in the latest rankings. "I think it's a pretty good reward for a good start," Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson said Sunday in a telephone interview. -- read full article

Tide's big plays do in Arkansas, 49-14 (AP)
Twice Casey Dick was where no quarterback wants to be -- the last man back after throwing an interception. Twice he lunged at the Alabama player with the ball, and twice he missed completely. Javier Arenas and Justin Woodall scored on those long returns, and the ninth-ranked Crimson Tide opened Southeastern Conference play with a 49-14 rout of Arkansas on Saturday. -- read full article
