Defensive line leading No. 3 Penn State (AP)
Aaron Maybin couldn't stop moving during his first meeting as a Penn State Nittany Lion, running around a room at the football building in shorts and a T-shirt in front of his calm teammates. It was a sign of things to come. The Big Ten's leader in sacks (nine) and tackles for loss (12.5) has mellowed out a bit off the field, reserving that energy for chasing down opposing quarterbacks. -- read full article

Pitt starting LB Murray out for season (AP)
Pittsburgh outside linebacker Shane Murray will have surgery next week to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and miss the rest of the season. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Murray, a junior, was one of three returning starting linebackers, but injured his knee during preseason camp. He has played in only one of the Panthers' five games. -- read full article

Boise State seeks revenge against Hawaii (AP)
If Boise State needs a little extra motivation for Friday night's nationally televised matchup with Hawaii, the Broncos won't have to look too far to find it. Redemption is driving the No. 15 Broncos this week, and several players acknowledged they're turning back the clock to last year's season finale when the Warriors beat the Broncos 39-27, a victory that clinched the Western Athletic Conference... -- read full article

TCU ends No. 9 BYU's 16-game win streak (AP)
BYU will need a small miracle to reach the BCS. And maybe even just to win the Mountain West Conference. With an ironic twist of revenge, and a smothering defense, TCU made sure of that. Andy Dalton threw two touchdown passes in his return to the lineup, receiver Jeremy Kerley became a running threat and the Horned Frogs sacked Max Hall six times in a 32-7 victory Thursday night that snapped the... -- read full article

Georgia OL Vance out for season (AP)
Georgia must find a new starting left tackle. Again. Vince Vance will need reconstructive knee surgery and miss the rest of the season, coach Mark Richt said Sunday. The successor to Vance will be the team's fourth first-string left tackle since the preseason. Georgia lost left tackle Trinton Sturdivant to a season-ending knee injury before the first game. -- read full article

Michigan's bowls streak in jeopardy (AP)
Motor City Bowl officials were at the Big House to scout the Wolverines. The lower-tier bowl would love to fill Ford Field with maize-and-blue clad fans, many of whom live a short drive away. But even the most optimistic of those fans can't be sure the Wolverines can win four more games to be eligible for the postseason. -- read full article

Back to proving ground for No. 11 Mizzou (AP)
Missouri's offense all but disappeared. So did the Tigers' national-title hopes. The Tigers' 53-point scoring machine malfunctioned repeatedly in Saturday night's 28-23 upset at home to No. 17 Oklahoma State. They're out of the Top 10 for the first time this season, a disappointing No. 11 heading into next week's game at top-ranked Texas, which profited from the bumbling to move into a top spot that... -- read full article

Texas jumps to No. 1 in AP Top 25 (AP)
Texas rode its resounding Red River Rivalry upset right to No. 1. The Longhorns leapfrogged No. 2 Alabama on Sunday and sit atop The Associated Press Top 25 in the regular season for the first time in 24 years after beating Oklahoma 45-35. Texas' jump to No. 1 is the largest since Miami went from No. 6 to No. -- read full article

Buckeyes overcome Pryor's erratic day (AP)
Asked to describe his team's offense in one word, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel thought a minute and said, "hit and miss." On a sloppy day for the No. 12 Buckeyes, even the coach had trouble narrowing down what was wrong. Special teams and defense held up their ends of the bargain, though, with Malcolm Jenkins blocking a punt and Etienne Sabino returning it 20 yards for a touchdown to lead the way... -- read full article

Hall leads No. 9 BYU to 16th straight (AP)
BYU had two firsts against New Mexico. Losing wasn't one of them. The ninth-ranked Cougars survived their lowest-scoring game of the season, beating New Mexico 21-3 on Saturday to extend the nation's longest winning streak to 16 straight. BYU (6-0, 2-0 Mountain West) remained unbeaten at the halfway point of the season, but needed Max Hall's 8-yard touchdown pass to Austin Collie with 3:05 left in... -- read full article

Arkansas upsets No. 20 Auburn 25-22 (AP)
Arkansas found an offense it could stop, and a little running back No. 20 Auburn couldn't. The 5-foot-7 Michael Smith rushed for 176 yards on 35 carries and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 63-yard run in the fourth quarter. The beleaguered Razorbacks defense then mounted two late defensive stops to preserve a 25-22 win over the Tigers on Saturday. -- read full article

No. 8 USC routs Arizona St. again, 28-0 (AP)
Mark Sanchez passed for one touchdown and ran for another, and the Southern California defense dominated Arizona State in a 28-0 win Saturday. Joe McKnight ran for a career-high 143 yards on 11 carries and Kevin Thomas returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown for the Trojans (4-1, 2-1 Pac-10), who extended their winning streak over the Sun Devils to nine games, winning by an average of... -- read full article

No. 6 Penn State crushes Wisconsin 48-7 (AP)
Forget the press box. Joe Paterno could have coached this one from his living room. A sore hip relegated Paterno to a perch high above the field for the second week in a row -- and once again, not having their iconic leader on the sidelines didn't matter to No. 6 Penn State. Daryll Clark threw for a touchdown and ran for two more scores, Derrick Williams ran a punt back for a touchdown and cornerback... -- read full article

No. 7 Texas Tech gets by Nebraska in OT (AP)
Texas Tech cornerback Jamar Wall saw Nebraska's quarterback scramble and started to charge. Joe Ganz wanted to throw the ball out of bounds. He missed his target. "He basically threw it right to me," Wall said. Wall's pick preserved a 37-31 overtime victory for No. 7 Texas Tech against Nebraska on Saturday. -- read full article
