    Former Duke point guard Greg Paulus is the starting quarterback at Syracuse. He won the job after transferring and getting an NCAA waiver to play football as a graduate student at the Newhouse School of Public Communications.     Wisconsin suspends Pleasant, Carter (AP)
    Wisconsin has suspended safeties Aubrey Pleasant and Shane Carter. Head coach Bret Bielema did not say in his statement on Saturday why the two seniors were being suspended. Both players have been an integral part of the Badgers' defense. The 6-foot-1 Pleasant has made 80 career tackles over 14 starts and was listed beside safety Jay Valai for a starting slot on the most recent depth chart. -- read full article

    QB DuRocher leaves Central Washington (AP)
    Former Washington quarterback Johnny DuRocher, trying to make a football comeback after seeing his career derailed by a benign brain tumor, has left the program at Division II Central Washington. School spokesman Jonathan Gordon told The Associated Press on Monday that DuRocher said he left because of groin and elbow injuries. -- read full article

    Fulmer laying low, still wants to coach (AP)
    Phillip Fulmer plans to spend this football season working for an investment firm, doing some television work and even taking a few weekends off. By next season, the former Tennessee coach expects to be back on the sideline and back in the spotlight.     Syracuse to play ND, USC at Meadowlands (AP)
    Syracuse has agreed to play three home games against Notre Dame and Southern California over the next seven years in the new stadium at the Meadowlands. Two people with knowledge of the agreement, speaking on condition of anonymity because the official announcement has not been made, said the Orange will face USC in 2012 and Notre Dame in 2014 and 2016. -- read full article

    Lawyer: New Mexico wrongly fired woman (AP)
    An Albuquerque lawyer claims a New Mexico football administrative assistant was improperly fired after coach Mike Locksley determined she wasn't "a younger gal" who would entice recruits.     UCLA G Ekbatani to miss 4-6 weeks (AP)
    UCLA guard Nick Ekbatani will miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained ligament in his left knee, jeopardizing his chances to win a starting spot with the Bruins. Backup defensive linemen Reggie Stokes and Jess Ward also have knee injuries.     Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez says cornerback J.T. Turner has been academically cleared to play. The highly touted freshman from Massillon, Ohio, is expected to practice with the Wolverines on Thursday.     Notre Dame tackle Sam Young, nose tackle Ian Williams and highly touted freshmen linebacker Manti Te'o did not participate in the Fighting Irish's second practice of the day.     USC QB Corp out 2 weeks with knee injury (AP)
    Southern California quarterback Aaron Corp has a small crack in his bruised left knee and will be out about two weeks. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed the crack on the head of Corp's left fibula. The redshirt sophomore was rolled onto by a lineman during Monday's practice. Doctors found Corp has no ligament damage and won't need surgery. -- read full article

    Hokies top rusher Evans out for season (AP)
    Virginia Tech will have a new starting tailback in a season of great expectations after Darren Evans tore a ligament in his left knee during practice. The school says the redshirt sophomore will miss the season after Tuesday's injury to the ACL.     North Dakota St. LB Sczepanski suspended (AP)
    North Dakota State backup linebacker Blake Sczepanski has been suspended indefinitely after his arrest over the weekend for allegedly driving under the influence. Coach Craig Bohl says Sczepanski's future with the team won't be decided until after the legal process is finished.
