Review: Dessay shines as 'Lucia' in San Francisco (AP)

In this undated photo provided by the San Francisco Opera, cast members perform the finale of 'Ariodante.' (AP Photo/San Francisco Opera, Terrence McCarthy)AP - They call it "Summer Madness." OK, it's just an advertising slogan that loosely ties together the three works currently in repertory for the San Francisco Opera's June season. But the title character of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" offers more than enough insanity to go around, especially as portrayed by the dynamic French soprano Natalie Dessay.

Billboard CD reviews: Dr. John, Motley Crue (Reuters)
Reuters - There's been no shortage of thoughtful musical responses to Hurricane Katrina, but this album-length elegy by one of the city's foremost voices stands as something like the Mitchell Report of the bunch. "City That Care Forgot" is a righteous service indeed, all rage and soul and careful optimism, a place where the ballads drip and burn as much as the rockers, the barbs come quick and sharp ("Say it's a job well done, then you giggled like a bitch, and hopped back on the Air Force One"), and the best prognosis that the doctor can muster is, "We're getting there." Dr. John has enlisted much help here, including that of Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson and Terence Blanchard, and his own Lower 911 band can churn up bayou funk at the snap of a finger. But though "City" is a vicious rebuke, its greater power comes from its being shot through with a deep love and a deeper sadness. -- read full article

Disney banking on a hit with "Camp Rock" (Reuters)

Brothers Nick (L), Joe (C), and Kevin Jonas arrive for the premiere of the film 'Camp Rock' in New York June 11, 2008. (Lucas Jackson/Reuters)Reuters - It's a felony to print money, but Disney, for all practical purposes, has found a way around that law. By adhering closely to its "High School Musical" formula and stretching the results over even more of its divisions, Disney has devised a way to generate coin more efficiently than the U.S. Mint.

"Guru" falls short of comedy nirvana (Reuters)

(Mario Anzuoni/Reuters)Reuters - After the "Austin Powers" trilogy, there was a sense that comedian Mike Myers had elevated his game.
