| Books tells story of Bacardi rum and Cuba
(AP)
|
| AP - "Bacardi and the Long Fight for Cuba" (Viking, 365 pages, $27.95), by Tom Gjelten: Bacardi is the world's top-selling rum with annual sales of 20 million cases in more than 150 countries. But it does not sell a drop in Cuba, where founder Facundo Bacardi first opened a tin-roofed, dirt-floored distillery on Matadero Street in the eastern city of Santiago in 1862. -- read full article |

(AP)
|
| AP - "The Good Thief" (The Dial Press. 326 pages. $25), by Hannah Tinti: Hannah Tinti treats readers of her first novel much like a runaway train does its passengers: She takes off on her fantastical tale knowing they'll have no choice but to hang on to see how things end.

| Buckley's satire on Supreme Court hits the mark
(AP)
|
| AP - "Supreme Courtship" (Twelve. 285 pages. $24), by Christopher Buckley: Opinions by the U.S. Supreme Court have footnotes, so it's fitting that a novel about that institution would have them, too. But who'd expect them to be so amusing?

| Billboard CD reviews: The Game, Byrne & Eno
(Reuters)
|
| Reuters - The Game has long threatened that
"LAX" would be his last album, so perhaps that's why he
recruited the wayward DMX to open it with one of his trademark
prayers ("Devil, we rebuke you in the name of Jesus"). The
table thus set, the Game goes surprisingly mellow in comparison
to his first two efforts. "Touchdown" sports a lazy synth and
an airy chorus from Raheem DeVaughn about jet-setting, and
Ne-Yo proves himself chivalrous while the Game growls over
"Gentleman's Affair." Common pops up on the electric
piano-driven "Angel," paying homage to his classic "I Used to
Love H.E.R.," and "Never Can Say Goodbye" depicts the Game's
creativity as he embodies the voices of Tupac, Biggie and
Eazy-E just before they passed away. -- read full article |

|
| Reuters - In the wake of Robert Plant & Alison
Krauss, John Mellencamp and all that's come before, T Bone
Burnett is on such a producing roll that his presence threatens
to eclipse the artist(s) he's working with. -- read full article |

| Anna Faris keeps formulaic "Bunny" hopping
(Reuters)
|
| Reuters - It might wear its
derivative, "Legally Blonde"-meets-"Mean Girls" trappings like
a rhinestone thong, but strip away the second-hand attire, and
"The House Bunny" still manages to stand on its own two
skyscraper heels thanks to the comic force of nature that is
Anna Faris.
