    China: Stabbing of ex-Olympian's father 'isolated' (AP)

An American relative of a US Olympic coach was killed and another injured in a stabbing attack in Beijing, raising security fears as the Games got into full swing.(AFP/Mark Ralston)AP - Police investigating the stabbing death of the father of a former U.S. Olympian said Sunday the suspect was distraught over family problems. Chinese authorities unsettled by the attack during the Beijing Olympics tightened security at tourist spots around the city.

    Iconic stone arch collapses in southern Utah park (AP)

    This undated image provided by the National Parks Service shows the Wall Arch prior to it's collapse Monday Aug, 4, 2008. One of the largest and most visible arches in Arches National Park collapsed according to park officials. Paul Henderson, the park's chief of interpretation, said Wall Arch collapsed sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. The arch is along Devils Garden Trail, one of the most popular in the park. For years, the arch has been a favorite stopping point for photographers. Henderson said the arch was claimed by forces that will eventually destroy others in the park: gravity and erosion. In the midst of being raped in 1994, Thompson-Cannino told herself to pay attention to details that would allow her to identify her attacker. She gave police a description that led to a sketch of the suspect and identified a man from photographs, picked him out of a lineup and told jurors she was certain he was the rapist. Thompson-Cannino, had mistakenly picked out one black man, but another was guilty of the crime.
