| Manchester United has told Cristiano Ronaldo there will be no new contract with a pay increase to match any Real Madrid offer, and that he must start displaying "commitment and loyalty." | Chivas goalkeeper will miss Mexican season (AP) |
| Chivas goalkeeper Luis Michel broke his left forearm during a Superliga game and will miss the 2008 Mexican Apertura league season. Michel was injured Saturday night when he went for a rebound and was hit by Gabriel Pereyra in the 89th minute against Atlante in San Jose, Calif. | Lotta Schelin and Jessica Landstrom scored goals and Sweden beat Norway 2-0 on Sunday in a tuneup for the women's Olympic soccer tournament. | Giancarlo Maldonado scored in the first half and Gerardo Espinoza added a late goal to lead Atlante to a 2-0 victory that knocked CD Guadalajara out of the SuperLiga tournament Saturday night. | Bundesliga could face financial trouble (AP) |
| The chairman of the Bundesliga is worried that a dispute with German antitrust authorities could cause financial difficulties for the soccer league. Christian Seifert told the Bild newspaper a six-year, $4.7 billion deal with pay-TV channel Premiere for the Bundesliga broadcasting rights starting in 2009 could be canceled if antitrust investigators conclude it is stifling competition. -- read full article |
